But Lemon Grass isn’t just about flavour; it’s also a visual delight. With its slender, graceful blades and tufted clusters, Lemon Grass stands out as a charming addition to any garden or landscape. Its aesthetic appeal rivals that of ornamental grasses, adding a touch of elegance to your outdoor spaces.

Lemon Grass also have range of health benefits. Rich in essential oils and antioxidants, it supports overall well-being. From aiding digestion to promoting relaxation, Lemon Grass is a great addition to your lifestyle.

Growing Lemon Grass:

  • Lemon Grass thrives in warm, sunny locations with well-draining soil. Select a spot in your garden or a container that receives at least 6-8 hours of sunlight per day.
  • Ensure the soil is well-draining and rich in organic matter.
  • Sow the seeds in a seed tray and indoors in early spring, about 6-8 weeks before the last frost date in your area. Transplant the seedlings outdoors once the threat of frost has passed or when the seedlings have reached 5cm in height.
  • Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during the hot summer months. Water deeply whenever the top inch of soil feels dry.
  • Lemon Grass doesn’t require extensive maintenance, but it benefits from regular pruning to encourage fresh growth and maintain its shape. Trim back any dead or yellowing leaves as needed.
  • Divide mature Lemon Grass clumps every 2-3 years to prevent overcrowding and promote vigorous growth.
  • Harvest Lemon Grass once the stalks reach a height of around 1 – 1.5 meters. Use a sharp knife or scissors to cut the young stalks at the base.
