Catnip

Catnip, scientifically known as Nepeta cataria, is a herb belonging to the mint family. The leaves are heart-shaped, toothed, and covered with fine hairs. It has a grayish-green colour and release a distinct, somewhat minty aroma when crushed. The active compound in catnip, nepetalactone, triggers a response in cats, causing excitement, playfulness, or relaxation when they smell or interact with the herb.
