Biomosome™ eco-matched, indigenous grass seed mixtures.

"
The sole distributor of Biomosome™ eco-matched pasture and veld seed.

What is Biomosome

Biomosome™ seed mixtures have been developed on BIOME principles, with the genetics of the seed species adapted to suit the conditions of the intended environment. Biomosome™ seed mixtures represent a significant advance over the commonly accessible all-purpose veld seed and pasture seed mixtures.

Biomosome™ is a self-sustaining indigenous grass seed mix which benefits the ecosystem, through soil condition improvement and ecological enrichment of degraded environments.

Indigenous biome matched grass seed mixes for all regions across South Africa.

Variety of carefully selected highly productive grasses that thrive in most climatic conditions.

A product that works with the laws of nature to save you time, effort, and money.

This is the first in a series ofthree articles. The focus here is on needs assessment. The second will deal with establishment, and the final will cover management after establishment. Each facet is as important as the others. All three require thorough attention for...

This is the second in a series of three articles on veld improvement for game. The article in the previous issue dealt with needs assessment. The focus in this article is on establishment, and the final article will cover management after establishment. All three...

In the previous edition, the article on veld improvement for game dealt with establishment from planted seed and bringing the plants to maturity in the first season. Management after establishment is the key to harnessing the process of plant succession to optimise...

The farm Newlands situated in the Mankazana mountains in Bedford District, Eastern Cape Province has recently been converted into a game ranch, fenced with a 2,4 m game fence and amalgamated with the farm Stanley that has been a game ranch for a decade. It’s a simple...

Whether a protected area is a small retreat, a productive game ranch or a vast reserve, wildlife managers are all faced with the same challenge: how to keep grazing quantity and quality at a sustainable level with limited or no internal fencing. An important approach...

Whether damaged through a bush fire or bovine overgrazing, the veld supporting southern Africa’s game farms and reserves can be assisted to return to its natural glory and intended carrying-capacity. MayFord’s Mike Zingel explains to freelance writer Alistair Cotton...

Veld fires are a common phenomenon in the South African landscape. They occur naturally in grasslands, woodlands, Fynbos and sometimes in indigenous forests. Fire as a natural process can have a positive effect on vegetation structure and composition. It also helps...

Ecological succession is defined as series of changes in the ecosystem where one community replaces another community as result of changes in the biotic and abiotic conditions.  This phenomenon has been very important in determining ecological structures...
